How to make a keyboard release the note
I'm trying to get a sound where the note plays for most of the duration, but doesn't quite hold for the full duration so it can play the same note again (this is what I'm getting at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhF1Z40Ua20). Is there a way to do this while displaying the full note value?

I tried, but the note I'm getting is too short. Is there a way to change the properties of the staccato?
You can fine tune note durations by right-clicking a measure and going to the Piano Roll Editor.

That sounds promising. I've gone into it and shortened the durations several times, but when I go into playback nothing changes. Do you know what might be wrong?

I don't see that you made any changes at all there. The interface is kind of complicated, so be sure to see the Handbook for some information. For me, though, it works as expected if I select Length in the dropdown on the bottom half of the window and shorten everything by clicking in the area to the right (shortening the vertical bars for each of the notes).
