Current mind-set on uploading copyrighted material to Musescore.com
There are a few forum posts on this subject. However, they are kind of old (2015). I am noticing that there is a LOOOOOT of copyrighted scores on Musescore.com. Can someone update me on the current thinking about uploading copyrighted material to Musescore.
1. Is it OK to do it as long as the copyright holder doesn't do anything about it?
2. Is it NEVER OK, even if the copyright holder doesn't do anything about it?
3. Does Musescore.com have some sort of agreement with the rights administrators (ASCAP, BMI, etc) that allows copyrighted material to be uploaded BUUUUUUT, if the rights administrators tell Musescore, then Musescore must delete the material and the uploader is held completely blameless.
4. If you upload copyrighted material you probably will not be sued, BUUUUUUUT the copyright holder can directly sue you, if they want to make an example of you.
5. Musescore has a financial arrangement with the copyright holders, that Musescore will pay them a certain percent (.001%) of money Musescore gets from Premium members. So everything is cool for uploaders.
Thank you.

The reason you don't see many forum posts about this here on .org is because it is not the place to discuss .com features. See https://musescore.org/en/faq#faq-20657 for a clarification on the differences between the two platforms.

Thank you for responding. I went to your link. It had nuttin about copyrights. Did you send me to the right place? Also, I didn't think copyright was a "feature" I thought it was a law that can be discussed by anyone.

That is why that link is supposed to send you over to musescore.com
The answer though is a mix of your points 3 and 5

Thank you. I like to see talented composers get paid for their talent. So I can upload away and not worry about any inconvenient laws. BTW: My understanding is that copyrighted material will only be available to premium members, which is fine. Will the uploader (even if not premium) always have access to copyrighted material he uploaded?

The uploader always has access to his/her stuff. If published, everybody can see and play it online, but only pro members can download it.
