mandolin tablature

• Aug 3, 2020 - 13:28

I have found sheet music tablature only in mandolin. I was wondering the best way to transcribe this to violin in musescore being that mandolin has same string names as violin GDAE. So not sure how to name the staff on the side. When I create ukulele or guitar tablature I know which lines are the tuning. I need a tablature for mandolin or violin that has the same GDAE. TEnor banjo also has the same but I'm not sure how to manipulate the instrument to replicate this score. I need to know the open string correct placement on the staff

i HOPE I'm talking sense here.

Well, a score for mandolin (standard staff + linked TAB staff) is appropriate for that, right? Or did I misunderstand something in your request?

Thanks. Where did you find mandolin in the instruments. I couldn't find it in mine. lol. Cool.
I think the GDAE rolls from bottom to top. I can't find Peace in the Valley score anywhere and can only find it in mandolin tab.
This is working real good. Just wondering why the Instrument name doesn't show on the side in part properties. ta muchly

"Where did you find mandolin in the instruments. I couldn't find it in mine"
Here, in the New Score wizard, tab "All instruments" (Strings - Plucked), or type mando/mandolin in the Search Box below the instruments list

"Just wondering why the Instrument name doesn't show on the side"

In menu "Format"/ Style/ Score -> Untick "Hide instrument name if there only 1 instrument" -> Ok
