middle stave sustains notes
I just updated Musescore to 3.5.0.13199. now for some reason, the middle stave out of the three instruments is sustaining every single note. Even when I restart musescore and the computer, and when I shuffle instruments around, the middle stave always sustains every note.
I am using windows.

Not for me, same version.
Maybe reverting MuseScore to factory settings helps here?

Thank you for the suggestion.
However, I reverted the settings and still have the problem.
I also tried creating a new composition with the same instruments and had the same problem
I have attached an audio recording of what it sounds like for me.

Do you have some non-default soundfont installed, or maybe are using an external synthesizer?
Your file plays normally for me as well. I'm guessing you tried posting an audio file here, and used musicxml extension to get around the fact that audio files aren't permitted as upload typers. better to just upload the audio to Dropbox or Google Driver and add a link here.

I do not think I have installed any of the things above. I have definitely not downloaded anything apart from the standard musescore.

I can confirm this sounds nothing like how it sounds for me. Have you tried rebooting?
Was this recorded from the playback, or exported directly via the File menu?

Indeed that .musicxml is an mp3. Better mention this ;-)
All fixed, I reverted factory settings following instructions from musescore website (https://musescore.org/en/node/2575) instead of going to
help --> revert to factory settings like I did the first time.
