Tempo Markings Disparity
I've noticed that when I add a tempo marking above the staff—for example, quarter note=80—the bpm in the play panel never matches what I've typed on the score. In this case, when I put quarter note=80, the bpm suddenly changes to 53bpm....can anyone explain this? Is there a setting I need to change or something I'm not understanding?

You have the tempo for playback set to 66% in the play panel which should be set to 100% to get full playback speed.

Oh I see. It changes that automatically when you change the bpm and I guess I didn't clock that....do you know why? No worries if not since my original question was answered but I'm still kinda confused

This is a useful tool if you want to slow down the music for testing purposes. You can use it to hear quick chords better (to find wrong notes) or test a new tempo without having to repeatedly go into the inspector to update it. You can even change the tempo in the middle of playback using the slide bar. I also use it to speed up songs (speed them up a lot!) to test repeat patterns.
