Playback corruption possibly caused by too many notes

• Oct 30, 2020 - 16:33

While transcribing Liszt's Concert Paraphrase On Mendelssohn's 'Sommernachtstraum', I have encountered glitchy playback issues in the fast cadenza section. Buzzing noises are created, then suddenly (and quite consistently) no audio is played, but the cursor continues to go through the score, until it reaches a less hectic part, and the audio gradually comes back.

When isolating the issue, it seems that tempo has nothing to do with this phenomenon. An except is included in the second page of the attached score (Error). The first page contains a broken chord sustained across many bars via the pedal. If played from the start, minor audio glitches start to occur around bar 15.

Tested on these versions:
macOS 10.15, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.5.1.297078174, revision: 186bf15
OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.3.0.8737, revision: 4761df6

It also happens online: I have uploaded the score in question, currently unlisted: https://musescore.com/user/22001986/scores/6422077/s/lVxWM2?share=copy_…. Skip to bar 208 and audio will cut off around bar 215. Before upload, the ossia in bar 319, if not muted, will cause similar issues around bar 327, therefore I conjecture it is related to too many notes being played at once. This does not occur in the online version in my testing.
