Text in Musescore 3

• Nov 4, 2020 - 00:15

Is it possible to construct justified text paragraphs in Musescore 3? I'm putting together a piano tuition book which has text interspersed with music. Some pages are entirely text with no music staves at all. If I make the staves disappear, then the text and anchors also disappear. I'm trying to avoid using pdf writer which is not open source, but I would like to mix text with music. Is there a way of doing this all in Musescore 3? Any ideas would be gratefully recieved.

Not easily. You have to supply your own spaces.

Edit: I was thinking centered. I think it would be closer to impossible to justify it.

Hello. Thank you for replying to my querie. It's a relief at least to know that I'm not the only one suffering these text problems. Let's hope that one day this aspect will be improved. Appreciate your help and apologies for my delay in getting back. Best wishes. Clifford

MuseScore's text editing capabilities is not its strong suit.
So...
For creating something like an instruction book containing text with musical examples, see:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/image-capture#image-capture-menu
Look for "Copy with Link to Score"

This allows you to use a text editor (like the open source Libre Office) to do all the text formatting while using MuseScore to notate the musical examples.
Pasting the image capture of the music into your document will link it to the score, in case you wish to edit them later.

Hello, Thank you very for your most helpful reply to my querie about text and sorry to be so long getting back.
I have tried the image-capture and am amazed how easy it is to solve all my problems of text in this way. I paste the music into Open Office and from there export as pdf having added all necessary text. Perfection - particularly as I'm naturally trying to stay open-source all the way through my project. Thanks again and best wishes, Clifford
