Unable to access my files in the free version of MuseScore
I have been using the free version of MuseScore for about a week, had typeset about 300 bars of music, and was just getting used to the program. However, after a reboot of my browser, I now seem unable to access my work, and instead am prompted to buy the professional version. Any help would be much appreciated. My registration particulars were: charlesmccreery@gmail.com

I would prefer not to reveal my password at this stage.
Thanking you in advance, Charles

Please see https://musescore.org/en/faq#faq-20657 on the mixup of two products named MuseScore.
Here on .org the free (always, completely and fully free) desktop notation software is offered and supported. It is the software that allows you to create/edit scores and stores those on your local disk at a location of your choosing, just like any other file.
The software and storage of files is unrelated to having a browser open and/or restarting it.
The software also allows you to upload your scores to the .com sister platform, which does have a free and a paying subscription system. There again though, scores successfully stored on their server don't magically tend to disappear (though it is not a backup service, so make sure to keep your local copies around!).

Maybe a rebrand would be a good plan? Something like "MuseScore Web" for the .com? That would greatly improve the clarity of everything and make mixups much less common

@L'Moose A differentiation in header has been requested multiple times by many members of the community. Unfortunately this seems to have a very low priority for the in-house web team :'(

I have done this, but when I click on the score, all it allows me to do, as far as I can see, is play it. I cannot find any of the editing options I used to see when I was typesetting it. In fact the screen looks completely different.

Hooray! I think I have done it. I had not noticed the 'download' option on the right of the screen. Thank you very much for your help.

The software doesn't have a download option for scores on the right of the screen; so you were likely just browsing the .com website. That website indeed is no editor, as indicated in the FAQ linked in the first reply.
