Export selected bars
I'm not sure whether this is a feature of Musescore or not - but it doesn't seem to be.
The Audacity audio editor has the feature to export selected tracks and parts. It would be great if Musescore had a similar feature and could export selected parts of any work in progress - including the various formats currently supported - e.g Wav, mp3, midi, pdf and even Musescore etc.
It would also be useful to select individual lines - as well as whole sections, so as to hear or inspect what each instrument or voice is doing.
I often like to play around with parts of pieces when I'm writing, and this would be very helpful.

If you go to Edit / Preferences / Shortcuts, you'll see a search box, just type "selection" into it and you'll find out if this command is available. In general, just about everything in a menu is.
As for the second request, seems like you mean a discontinuous selection, so, no.
But I'm confused as to how you see this being used. What does this accomplish that simply muting the staves, or generating parts, does not? Can you attach a sample score and explain in more detail?

Hi Marc, I know this is an old thread but I'm wondering the same thing as the user above. I wondering if there is an 'export selection' option (or workaround) so I can export just a snippet of a score in mp3, MIDI, PNG or SVG format. This is very helpful in an education setting when quizzing students about a portion of the melody in a song for example. I would like to work from the complete "Master" score as opposed to creating loads of little throw away scores with copy/pastes of the sections I want.

No, there is still no "export selection", but it does seem like a good idea for the future. Meanwhile, though, no need for creating tons of different throw-away scores - just keep reusing the same one and copy/paste the content into it. Or, instead of copying to a new score, delete all but the relevant measures temporarily, export, then undo the deletion. Or, when using "save selection", just keep reusing the same file. For PNG export, you can also use your OS's screen capture facility.

As mentioned already, you need to use two steps:
File > Save Selection...
then close the main score, open the new "selection" score and export in your chosen format:
File > Export...

I can´t unbox because then the button for export is not on anymore.

Select the parts you don't want to export and remove them (Tools > Remove Selected Range), then export what's still left.
