Problem with DS al Coda

• Apr 11, 2021 - 14:02

DS al Coda will not work - it repeats just bar 41 only then goes to Coda. If I replace it with DC al Coda it works, but I don't want that. If I place DS al Coda in the bar before it works. I have read all the info there is and tried everything.

Really interesting...not sure why this occurs but it seems there is something "weird" at bar 41.
I have inserted a new bar just before 41. Then copied the notes from your bar 41 into this new bar.
Applied the desired barline type and added the DS al Coda to this new bar.
Next I removed your original bar 41.

The "jump" works correct now.

You can also test by adding a DS al Coda to another bar (i.e. bar 36, 37, or so). You can then see the jump is working correct. It is an odd behaviour, not sure what is causing this.

Actually....looking at the raw file, I noticed there is an "empty" segno placed in bar 41, hence why the jump is to the same bar. It seems that, because it is empty, you cannot select it or see it. Perhaps you had a segno sign placed here and only deleted the text from it instead of deleting the segno sign?

If you follow these steps, you can make the "invisible" segno available for selection and can delete it:
- Select the CODA sign at bar 42
- Use the Inspector and select the Frame type: Rectangle and click the S (at the right hand side in the inspector to set it as Style Default)

Now the "invisible" segno will show with just a rectangle. Select this item and delete it.

  • Select the CODA sign at bar 42
  • Use the Inspector and select the Frame type: None and click the S (at the right hand side in the inspector to set it as Style Default)

Now the style is set back to default without the rectangle. There are more options on how to do this, but believe this is not too complex.
