I advocate an "Export selection" feature in the Files menu.

The idea is that you can highlight select measures in a score and have them export directly, particularly as an audio file. It'd be identical to "Save Selection" and then exporting as an audio file. It gets rid of having to generate another file in the middle of it and streamlines the process.

It would be useful as a quick way to generate small snippets of audio as reference to someone to listen to. Audacity has an "Export selected audio" feature that made me think it would be possible to achieve something similar on Musescore, even though they're two different types of software.

This would need a solution to the problem of what to do with notes that start to play before the start of the selection but continue into the selection. This includes not just notes that are actually notated as extending over the "start line" but also those that remain ringing such as piano notes held with a pedal. There has been a lot of discussion about this in a few different use contexts but I don't think I have yet seen any conclusion about how to implement it

I just want to agree with this suggestion. It would also be very helpful if you're working on a multi-movement work but only want to export audio for one section.
