Popping - clicking sound when selecting or entering notes

• Feb 13, 2021 - 22:00

I installed the most recent build of MS3.6.2.5 today. When I click on a note, or enter a new notes, I get a popping sound after it sounds the note. Similar to the sound as when you refresh the MIDI inputs. This does not happen during playback.
Also, when I play notes on the MIDI keyboard, the notes do not make any sound unless a measure is selected. If a notes or rest is selected, or if nothing is selected, no sound is produced. In past lives, the default instrument would play, if there was not a selection.
Tried restarting, changing I/O settings, and reinstalled the software - no joy.
The same keyboard and interface work fine with other piano programs.
Running Win 10 Komplete Audio 6 interface.

Win 10 is the operating system. Komplete Audio 6 is the midi interface.
The problem occurs during note entry, and whenever I click on a note to drag it or edit. Each time the note sounds there is a pop/click sound after the note - much like what you hear when you refresh MIDI devices. I don't hear it during playback.

I have got a similar problem. Crackling sound when entering notes with WASAPI, goes away with Direct Sound.
OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2.548021803, revision: 3224f34

Yes, I have this problem daily and have not found a solution. This happens with every MS file on this system (WIN10 x86_64, MS3.6.2) but not on my MAC laptop. The sound occurs when I enter notes with the mouse, and with the MIDI keyboard. A buzzing sound at Note Off, that seems to vary in intensity. This does not occur during playback. Tried Direct Sound as you suggested, and the sound does not occur when entering notes with the mouse, however, the MIDI keyboard does not function. The input box in the I/O tab in Preferences goes blank after hitting OK. I must restart the program to get MS to accept keyboard input. Another possible clue is that when running Pianoteq, that program presents an error box saying that it is receiving multiple duplicate Midi messages.
