Can't copy a chord in Musescore 3

• Dec 24, 2021 - 09:59

The manual says "In Normal mode, press and hold Shift, then click on a notehead in the chord." All I copy with Ctrl V or Right click paste is the note I clicked on! It used to be so easy! I could draw a box around a chord or group of chords, press Ctrl C and Ctrl V and there it was copied. If I click on a bar it highlights and I can copy that. Why change a perfectly workable system?

I'd be grateful for advice what I should do since the manual isn't helping me at all.

Shift+click does select the chord, using that blue rectangle. It always did and still does.
If it doesn't for you, restart MuseScore or your computer or revert MuseScore to factory settings, in that order, until it works again

Many thanks, Jojo. I restarted Musescore - no result. I restarted the computer - only result was that paste produced a semi-breve instead of a crochet and pressing enter caused the score to jump about on the screen. I then uninstalled and reinstalled but got the same result. Maybe I should uninstall, download and start again. I'm running an up to date Windows 10 pro.

I'll play around again after Christmas. Hope you have a good one.

Nothing has changed about any of this since the first release of MuseScore over 10 years ago. Shift+click on a single note selects an entire chord if nothing was selected previously. Otherwise, it takes the existing selection and 8extends* it to include that chord. That is usual way of making selections - click one note to select it, then Shift+clcik another to extend the selection. But you can also "draw" a boix wif you wish, with Shift+drag, same as always. And clicking an empty spot within a bar selects that bar, same as always.

If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score and tell precisely what you are doing - which notes you are clicking or Shift+clicking, etc - then we can understand and assist better.
