Paste a lot of measures from different staffs to one single staff (makes sense?)

• Jan 15, 2022 - 11:15

So, i encountered this problem that i can't seem to find a solution. I'm currently adapting some score to fit my ensemble that i teach to. The piano does not have anything to play right now, so i was thinking of transferring the chords that the brass have to play, to the left hand of the piano. Ca i do that somehow? I tried with layers, because that seemed the simplest solution but it won't let me paste while I'm in note-input mode.

P.S.: I know it's easy to just input the notes by hand, but i encountered this on some difficult parts, where the copy-paste would come in really handy.

well, it works, sort of...
I managed in the end to change one pasted voice to another layer, then paste the second voice on the 1 layer and then implode them. It works pretty good.
I am wondering though if there isn't an easier way to do it... but thanks for the implode suggestion "elsewhere" ;)

It's not clear what went wrong with the implode, it should work and do exactly what I think you are asking here. Run it once to combine into multiple voices on the same staff, run a second time if you wish to merge the voices.

If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score and describe in more detail what you are trying to do.

Thx for the reply. I uploaded a screenshot in the original post. I think i explained there viasually what i whant to do. I'm not able to work now because i'm not home, but....as far as I understand, i should have selected the staffs that i whant to merge and then select implode. I did not do that. I will try asap and let you know, allthough, i'm having a hard time understanding how that will work, to what staff will the notes pe transferred? To the lower one or the top one?
Nevermind, i'll test it and let you know how it goes.

See the Handbook section on Tools for more on Implode. but the short answer is, the notes get combined onto the top staff of the selection. So if that's not where you want them, you might need to use some temporary staves, or rearrange them momentarily.

If you continue to have trouble, please attach the actual score - screenshots don't really help much - and explain in more detail what you are trying to do. But I think this should help.

yey, it worked. So sorry for my english :), I'm having trouble with the whole music related words :)
Thx a lot Marc, I managed to do like you said. Indeed, I need to insert an empty staff if I don't want to mess up existing parts.
Now for another question should i start another topic or could i ask you guys here?
Can I change from Clarinet B to Clarinet A on the same staff? If yes, I might have to split staffs somehow, because when i try to use the Transpose tool, it automatically transposes the whole staff. What do i need to do so the transpose only works from a specific measure on? Preferably without visual impact on the continuity of the staff.
Thx in advance guys. I wasn't expecting to receive an answer so fast to my first question.
