note and rest bar
I can't get the note/rest bar to come down so I can input music. I'm on a mac and I've clicked something to make it disappear. Help!

You may have hidden it by accident. Go to the menu and choose View >Toolbars and ensure that "Note Input" is ticked.

This is what you're looking for:

Note that you don't actually need the toolbar; you can select durations using the keyboard shortcuts, which is more efficient anyhow. For example, 4-5-6 for eighth-quarter-half.

True. Except that those of us that are more visually oriented actually do need the note input toolbar. Efficiency has many levels. Not all of them are about speed.

Indeed; but since it seemed the OP was unaware these shortcuts even existed, this is just a PSA that there are indeed alternatives to check out and then decide for oneself.
