Piano popping sound BUT ONLY when I plug into external speakers.

So I already looked up what to do for a piano popping sound, but I didn't want to have to download an entirely new sound pack just to fix it. So I tried restarting my computer and that fixed the problem. This was only with my Macbook speakers however. Once I plugged in my interface (which I have connected to external monitors, but the popping sound happens with the external speakers OR if I just have the sound coming out through headphones that are plugged into my interface) the popping sound came back. I tried unplugging the interface but now - unless I close and restart MuseScore - it doesn't go away. Anyway to solve this?

You have:
Macbook internal speakers
external speakers
headphones
external monitors?
What is "my interface"?

Okay, so if you wish to open and play a simple piano score. are you clicking switches, plugging/unplugging wires, with MuseScore open?
Try using Edit > Preferences... > I/O and then click 'Restart Audio and MIDI Devices'.
Alternatively, toggle the MIDI input button (found on the toolbar) twice.

Sorry I should've clarified, I meant my audio interface. I am not modifying anything with switches or wires while MuseScore is open. I tried restarting audio and MIDI devices AND toggling the MIDI input button and it still pops whenever I listen to MuseScore through my headphones (which are plugged into my audio interface.) If I plug headphones straight into the Mac's headphone jack however the popping doesn't happen.
