To be clear: you followed the instructions on that page and added a tempo marking to your score, and you can see the tempo marking right there, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on playback? Or, you are having trouble adding the tempo marking? Or something else?
As mentioned, to do much more than guess at how to help, we'd need you to attach your score (see the "File attachments" section and the "Choose a file" button right below where you type your reply). So if you continue to have trouble, please attach your score and tell use precisely - step by step what you you tried in your attempt to add the tempo marking, and at which specific step of the process something appeared to go wrong.
If by „MuseScore App" you mean the mobile player app for iOS ( and apparently also macOS), then you're wrong on this site here. Here we only deal wit the MuseScore Editor for Windows, macOS and Linux. And there the above mentioned handbook page is the page te read in order to understand how to change the tempo of s score
What version exactly?
What exactly is your problem?

One solution that sometimes works is https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/revert-factory-settings
Then try attaching an example, a *.mscz file. Are you using the latest version https://musescore.org/en/download ?
