MS4 handbook: issues

I can't find anything in the handbook about the master palette. Should it be in "Palettes"?

I believe the reason to be that there was intent to remove the master palette on the condition that all of its functionality could be reached by different means according to the new UX.
Whether or not that still stands and whether or not the current usages already have been covered by other means, I do not know.

I'm guessing it's not going away for 4.0, because at the Symbols, Key Signatures, and Time Signature sections are still needed, and there would need to be new design work to replace them, and that's almost certainly not having for 4.0.

So I think those three sections should get discussed where relevant, the existence of the master palette in general could be a brief note in the main palettes section.

For positioning good point, which brings up another - this list is primarily about customizable keyboard shortcuts. There are probably any number of other things that aren't there because they are not customizable, like the shortcuts for entering special characters into text. So we'll need to be sure to find and list those.

For tablature, which shortcuts do you mean? The numbers, I guess, also the tablature-specific definitions for duration and for changing strings?

Thanks for this! But note - this has changed, currently the cursor keys on their own move 0.5 sp, not 0.1 sp, at least for some element types. And Alt isn't implemented - actually, not for MU3 either, these keys are for navigation, not adjustment. Hmm, unless you mean, only within Edit mode? That may changing pretty radically, but anyhow, in what's there now, Alt+arrows don't do anything that I can see. Maybe only for some element types?

It's not clear if any of that is subject to change or not, but there are definitely other changes in shortcuts pending. So I'm adding this to my own CSV file that I'm using to generate the tables for the Handbook, and I'll update the actual Handbook page when things are little more settled.

Regarding tab - most of those are there already. The letters to enter the frets are missing, so I'll add those. Semicolon for rest currently isn't implemented - see https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/11736. I'm not understanding the intended purpose of the increase/decrease current fret mark commands, as that shortcut does nothing for me in either MU3 or MU4 on my Linux system. I gather it is supposed to change the actual number, eg, from 3 to 4, and possibly move to the next string when appropriate? This does seems to work that way on Windows, but I don't see anything in the shortcut definition dialog to suggest this is an actual command.

EDIT: I see, it's co-opting "move pitch up/down diatonically", which I had previously customized as that combination is reserved on my system. Will add to list.

Could a section be added to the Editing guidelines describing the use of the various HTML tags for buttons and menu items?

To be added to Selecting elements?

  1. The Shift + click method of selecting a chord in normal mode.
  2. Click then Shift+click has two ways of working. If you select just notes/rests, all elements within the range are selected. However, you can limit the selection to just a particular type of text element in a range to get just fingerings, dynamics, chord symbols, fretboard diagrams etc.
