Barring non-sequential notes
I am transcribing the Bach Cello Suite I, Prelude, and there is a portion where non-sequential 16th notes are barred in pairs of 1&3 and 2&4 (see attached). I can't figure out how to do this in MuseScore, except perhaps to manually drag the beams to attach to the desired notes. Is there a way to do this via the beam properties?

Use two Voices. Enter note-rest-note-rest-note-rest-note-rest in one and rest-note-rest-note-rest-note-rest-note in the other. Select everything and "Beam All" then select individual notes and rests and use Beam Start and No Beam to tidy everything up. Then make the rests invisible. As a final adjustment, move the rests nearer to the middle of the staff so that the note stems are not too long (they are automatically lengthened to allow space for the rests).

Not what I'd call intuitive, but it worked, and all your steps were necessary. Thanks for the tip—I would not have gotten there on my own, and I used to do computer based page layout for a living.

Hey, in m. 36, you'll probably want to make the voice two half rest invisible (in the inspector, or with the "V" key).

Eh? I thought I did, unless that little black dot hiding between the beams is a rest. 😮

Go figure—there was a little half rest hiding in there. All fixed.
