It would be preferable to have a toggle (maybe keybind) for the auto-mute when selecting the playhead. Currently, I see no way to allow for a measure select to start full playback; it will only play that stave. Until then, the note selection function does indeed work, however inconvenient when working on large scores. If this is unsatisfactory, regressing to MuseScore 3 still allows measure select playback of the full score.

I'd rather it not be a toggle: I'd rather it simply require something other than a single click of a measure to trigger the soloing operation.
Meanwhile, I think the best workaround is to get in the habit of pressing Esc just before Space to start playback. It clears the selection but leaves the play head where it was. At least so far it's seemed to work for me.

Thank you for the tip, I did not know that was a function! That workaround works for me as well.
