Musescore 4 Soundfonts Not Included?

• Dec 17, 2022 - 01:48

Musescore 4 looks excellent but it is missing its vast amounts of soundfonts it had on previous versions. Does anyone have a clue when it will it we be available to the public?

Speaking of soundfonts in MS4, one thing I can't find how to do is to select an instrument sound from a soundfont file that I have loaded in MS4. Once I insert my sf2 file in the right folder, when I open the mixer (F10), my soundfont is there, alright, but I don't see how I can select one of the instruments from that soundfont. In MS3 that was part of the mixer features, and I can't believe that it's all gone in MS4. Where is it now?

The feature to select a patch within a soundfont is coming in a future release.
In the meantime, load a free VST such as Sforzando or Sfizz and use them to load your soundfont.

Another approach is to split the soundfont into separate soundfonts that each only contain 1 patch; thus forcing MuseScore to use that patch from it.
