Playback playing incorrectly

I am writing an orchestral piece where in a measure the timpani plays two sixteenth-notes followed by two eighth notes. However, the play back sputters on the sixteenth notes, like the computer was not ready for the rhythm at all. I have also noticed it usually happens when it's the same note repeated, which causes the notes to fuse weirdly. This is noticeable in the strings in general.
