As an organist, I'm hopeful for some decent registration control some day, but see https://musescore.org/en/node/340112 for the up to date state of soundfonts in MS4.
Hopefully for you, classical guitar is higher on the priority list than organ.

Thanks for the contribution, but in the last few decades the classical guitar has evolved from the point of view of "expressions".
In addition to the standard touch (al volo) we have the apoyado touch, the tremolos, the legato, the torn legato, the slap, the Bartok slap, the fingertip touch, etc

Nice mellow tones. Here's a tweak with some more sustain.
Regarding if Muse sounds will add a classical guitar, the Muse sounds team ARE MAKING Muse guitars. I just don't know much info about it. Neither do most people. But they are also making Marching percussion, opera voices & jazz. And they are also fixing muse sampler bugs. So we just have to wait.

Currently I am using the Cimbasso sound for Euphonium in band scores , the timbre is similar, the problem is that it doesnt have the same extension and high notes above the staff are mute, therefore in cases when there are high notes I use either the trombone sound of Muse Hub or the Euphonium sound of old Soundfont.

I have heard a lot of people request that along with marching percussion, there should be marching style-winds. This would include baritone/euphonium. And maybe that could also be in jazz.

Picked Nylon is an impressive classical guitar by Native Instruments. I'm getting some pretty good results. Here's an example project:

Picked Nylon runs in MuseScore 4 via an instance of Kontakt. It is not in soundFont format and requires the full version of Kontakt. So it's not an inexpensive route. The Ultimate version of Komplete 14 is the level required to get the Picked Nylon sample library. I purchased Kontakt 7 and Komplete 14 Ultimate during the summer 2023 50% off sale the combined price was about $650.
Unfortunately I occasionally encounter some keyswitch issues in Kontakt with sample libraries by Native Instruments and other vendors. Haven't sorted that out—probably means moving the key switch an octave lower. So far I only know that spitfire has a keyswitch/octave solution built into their "wrench" tool.
I'm certainly interested in other guitar libraries so please let us know if you find something satisfying, without a lot of effects baked in.
I keep hoping MuseSounds will include a good nylon and steel string guitar soon!

Modartt has made a very impressive nylon string guitar! And it's refreshing that Modartt posted a large number of "honest" demos, where the instrument is plainly displayed, and is not drenched in reverb or other effects AND it not buried in a mix.
I'd get it right now if it worked with Kontakt. Will definitely look into how I might use it.
And this is so interesting:"What makes Pianoteq superior to other virtual instruments is that the instruments are physically modelled and thus can simulate the playability and complex behaviour of real acoustic instruments. Because there are no samples, the file size is just a tiny fraction of that required by other virtual instruments, making Pianoteq perfect for any laptop."

The classical guitar in Pianoteq is amazing and has a good variety of presets. The Pianoteq software also comes with a VST plugin for use with a DAW and it works well with Cakewalk but I don't have MS4 to test. The trial version has a few limitations, (such as deliberate gaps in playback), but allows you to test everything.

I use the 'stage' version since years (as piano).
I think it's difficult to find a better affordable piano. It is probably the only good option for Linux users.
With the stage version come 2 instruments of your choice, and a bunch of free historical pianos and bells.
I cannot evaluate the guitar - lack of knowledge.

The classical guitar is excellent. I only need Pianoteq Stage to generate realistic guitar playback for my MS3 scores which I can then use for composite videos: visuals from MS3, audio from Pianoteq.

- on the fly touch
- apoyado touch
- flesh touch
- on the fretboard touch,
- at the bridge touch,
- "dedillo"
- etc.
The harmonicas of the great luthiers can only be of interest later !!!

Since Musescore does not specialise in any one instrument, I think that you probably need to be looking at a DAW with a good classical guitar VST for that level of control. Take a look at this comparison for an idea of what's available: https://youtu.be/l44S6kMUB88

Thanks for including that youTube link. It's an excellent comparison of six classical guitar libraries.
I've been using and liking NI's Picked Nylon. But it as Reuben states in his YouTube review Picked Nylon does seem somewhat over processed. And indeed there's a richness I can't quite dial out. Plus some of the high notes sound artificial.
I'm new to Modartt's Classical Guitar and generally it really sounds quite natural. However, there's something about the long decay length and tone of long solo notes—but in a steady stream of notes, or in a mix, those matters disappear. Given the depth of Modartt's parameters I'm likely to find options to address those issues.
With any version of Modartt PianoTeq you get to choose two or more libraries. If you choose Classical Guitar you get multiple versions/presets: Warm, Arpeggio, a la Piano and Prelude.
Both NI Picked Nylon and Modartt's Classical Guitar work in MuseScore 4—but with both I've encountered some octave issue with keyswitches, or with the guitar parts as a whole, which produces quite a cacaphonous result. Even in Logic I have to transpose the track up one octave.

The octave issue may be worth raising in this forum since it could be the way that MS4 and PianoTeq are talking to each other. It would be great to get PianoTeq working in MS4 as it would make the change to MS4 a worthwhile upgrade.
