Beam across a barline
How do I get a beam to go across a barline, as shown in bars 6/7 and 8/9 of the attached? I tried "join beams" by clicking on the last note of bar 6, or the first note of bar 7, but nothing happened, and I can't find this topic in the handbook. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, sorry for a late reply. I tried that, but nothing happened, hence my original question. Using a Mac Mini with Mac OS 12.6.3 (Monterey); it didn't work on a MacBook Air running OS 13.2.1 (Ventura) either.

I think the problem remains when the notes belong to different hands, at least as far as beams are concerned.

Thank you for your reply and for having a go at this score. I don't know why Saint-Saens wrote those beams the way he did, but I'm trying to replicate it for posting to an online site (which is why I made the score much narrower than the page it's on, but i realise now that the simpler way to do it was just to make the right margin much bigger. I'll redo it that way (removing the frames) and get back to you, if I may. Thanks again.

The 1st needs the notes belogning to the same staff, as Shouchi mentioned, the 2nd won't work with the horizontal frame and the system break in the way
