How to set stems of chord-like notes in opposite directions?
Hello,
I am copying Hanon piece and in original for example there is note C over another note C (octave lower). In original sheet the "upper" C stem goes up, the lower one goes down. However when I created this from scratch what I get is chord-like effect -- both stems go in the same direction, when I select even single C and I switch stem up, both stems go up, down -- both goes down, auto -- same story. I am unable to "unglue" them.
So how to make them go in opposite directions?
Thank you in advance.

You should use Voice 2 for this. See: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/working-multiple-voices#entering-no…

Many thanks, it solved the problem. I was looking at stem direction options solely, because I have some pieces in MuseScore (not mine, copied from https://musescore.com/user/29808009/scores/7877294) which have opposite stems in one voice. I tried to "reverse engineer" how it was done (just out of curiosity, to learn something) but still I don't know :-).
Using two voices is super easy approach and works great, thank you once again.

"opposite stems in one voice"
That's not normal. If you have found an example of this, please post it.

Please see the link above, but it is more for learning purpose, I am really curious how it was done :-).

In the example score https://musescore.com/user/29808009/scores/7877294 measures 1-5 and 24-28 originally had the stem-up notes input as Voice 1 of the treble-clef staff. Then the notes were moved down to the bass-clef staff. Hence two set of notes, both in Voice 1.
You can read up on Cross-staff notation in the Handbook:

The "top" notes in measure 1-5 belong to the top staff. While they are showing in the bottom staff using the cross-staff notation feature: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/cross-staff-notation
