Other note heads in tablature
I feel silly, but can't seem to figure out how to make an 'x' notehead in tablature (for a muted string pluck). I tried to apply the notehead from the Noteheads palette but that didn't seem to work. (oh, and is there a way to alphabetize the palettes list; it is so hard to parse visually with the random order).

Oops, that didn't seem to quite work. After selecting a note and pressing Shift-x, the fret number is enclosed in parenthesis, not replaced with an 'x'.
I have now found that only the 'Cross' within the Noteheads palette works with tablature:

However, it is very small, and the center of the 'x' is below the ledger line. Can at least the size of the x be changed to make it more visible?

I can confirm the x noteheads are placed too low on the TAB staff lines in MuseScore 4.2.1.

Better with Tab Serif font in: Staff/Part Properties -> Advanced Style Properties -> Fret Marks -> Font : select ''MuseScore Tab Serif " in the drop-down list

Yes, changing the Font AND increasing the size really does give a better (I might even say, satisfying?) result.
