metronome divisions
I am practicing a piece with original tempo 40 so when I play it back at half speed in order to practice along, the metronome is unusable to me. Is there no way I can change the metronome divisions without altering the score itself? I searched the topic and could not find a simple solution. I cannot believe that there is no such a setting for the metronome. Thank You

Not tried this but change the time signature? I.e 4/4 to 8/8 etc

But that would change the score which the OP doesn't want.
It can be done in a hacky sort of way so that the score doesn't look like it has changed.
Assuming the current time signature is 4/4: Create a new 8/8 time signature but set its text to be 4/4.
Replace the current 4/4 in the score with the bogus new one.
