All instruments are muted (I can't unmute them) and the score is silent.

Quick fix is to set all instruments "solo" on mixer.
It is weired, I will check, whats happening.
How You got file into this state? Is it midi import?
The problem is that the metronome channel is in solo state, but in 4.4 the 'solo' button of the metronome channel was removed from the mixer because it doesn't really make sense to solo the metronome. But an unforeseen consequence is that you can't unsolo the metronome anymore either. Attached is a fixed version of the file.
