Can't change chord font

• Sep 14, 2024 - 14:39

I can't change chord font. After selecting a new font, it goes back to "Edvin" font. A few times I have managed to get the right font for the chord, but not for the accidental. In this case it shows the correct font when in "Editing mode" (see picture 1) but when I go to next inout, it goes back to the pre-set font (picture 2).
How do I get control over editing fonts?

Thanks

Thank you Jojo and Kuwitt for your answers, which however they don’t solve my problems. I have two problems:

• Starting a new score I cannot change the chord font at all – it is always ”Edvin”.
• The other score, from which I sent the pictures, is imported (mxl) from Finale. Every chord is correct except the # shows in a completely different (ugly) font and can’t be changed, not even to ”Edvin”.

For me there was in format->style...->text styles->chord symbol another font adjusted. Check this attached version, if you've the same problem when you insert a chord symbol (not a staff text). I changed the already existing chord symbols in your score with right click on a chord symbol->select->all similar and then inside the properties dialogue. I have not change the chords you've inserted as staff text (B7alt, the G over F7).

Dear Kuwitt,

Thank you for your effort.

You’ve changed to Edwin and then the chord accidentals work, but when selecting my preferred chord font the # and b will be wrong and not in the same font.

Sorry to say, it seems to be connected to the font (AckLac•Ark37) and to limitations of MuseScore. In Finale I can have one font for the chord root and another for the accidental. Also AckLac is fully supported.

I’m a professor of piano and a professional jazz pianist. I have written some books and have 2000 Finale files, all using this font (AckLac) which I prefer over Edwin for writing chords. I have worked a lot to create the layout of chords, also complex chords with many additions and now I’m frustrated after the announcement that Finale will not be updated anymore.

It seems I will have to look for a new chord font or maybe change notation program.

Enclosing my original Finale file (in pdf) for comparison.
