Chord Symbol Wishlist (Scalable “sus” and “add”)

• Oct 26, 2024 - 18:53

I know the good people of MS are working on chord changes for version 4.5; I’m just wondering if others share my frustration.

I make leadsheets with the Edwin font. My chords are often 16pt. Any time I need to put in a “sus4” or “add11” type chord, the “sus” and “add” are way too large and take up too much space. There appears to be no way to scale them (at least that I’m aware of).

I know I can go to the chord symbols style menu and modify the scaling, but that doesn’t scale the “sus” or “add.”

Just curious if anyone else has this issue of if this is on the developers’ radar for the future.

Happy notating!

I second your request!

When the chord quality part of a Chord Symbol > x chars it would be great to have the option of reducing the font size the chord quality and/or tighten its character tracking.

And Format>Style>Chord Symbols would be the logical location for such a function.

Here's related a GitHub topic..

I can foresee the addition of a link (next to the Chord Symbol) that opens the Format>Style>Chord Symbol style window. Or have the chord symbol itself a be a hyperlink link to the Chord Symbol style window.

If you have a Github account, which is easily acquired, you can comment in the aforementioned thread ... or start your own post.
