Transpose to concert pitch

• Nov 4, 2024 - 00:26

I'm desperately trying to transpose a brass quintet number to concert pitch. After uninstalling Musescore 3 & 4 and reinstalling Musescore 4, the concert pitch button finally showed up in the lower right-hand corner. However, it is completely useless--it doesn't change a single thing. Help?

Did you set up your score with the correct instruments - Trumpet in Bb, Horn in F etc.? Musescore needs that information to understand what transpositions are necessary.

If you attach your score (.mscz file) here someone may be able to work out what is going on.

@Jojo. You have the transpositions the wrong way round. A Bb trumpet sounds a major 2nd lower than written and 1 flat written key signature is 3 flats in concert. An F horn sounds a perfect 5th lower than written and 2 flat written key signature is also 3 flats in concert. And 3 flats concert is what you have for the trombone and tuba which don't transpose.
