Is it true there is no toggle for cue notes?

I have a piece with cues throughout. I did not write the cues with small noteheads because there was nothing in the properties dialog that indicated I should do so.

My research suggests that the only way to toggle the visibility of the queues is to have them all in a small note head so that I can select all small note head properties and then press V.

Am I out of luck because I didn't put in the small heads from the beginning? And that the only way for me to be able to toggle the visibility of cues is to go back and change every single queue to a small note head?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure where you got such a silly idea :-) Select the notes you want to be "cue notes", go to the Properties tab (upper left), and put a check in the Cue size checkbox. As shown below:

  1. I already have cue notes, spread throughout the score
  2. The cue notes are needed for the parts
  3. It is not acceptable to have cue notes in the score itself, however, so I need a way to make the cues invisible when printing the score
  4. The only way to toggle cues off and on is to make them "small head" so they can all be selected (not cue size, smaller than that).
  5. If this is the only solution, then I need to reformat all the cues, which is inefficient. And creating all cues with small note heads seems inefficient too.

When I say toggle, it means to make them invisible and back.

First, "toggle" means being able to turn something--anything--on and off. So, one toggles the "Cue size" setting, the "Small notehead" setting, the "Visible" setting, the "Play" setting. It is not specific to visibility.

Look at that screenshot: "Visible" is right there next to "Cue size".

As far as I can tell, "Cue Size" uses the same setting as "Small notehead": namely, Format / Style / Sizes / Small note size. (I tried changing that setting radically and it affected both "Cue size" notes and "Small notehead" notes.) With one exception: "Cue size" makes the stems smaller too, while "Small notehead" only changes the size of the notehead. Looks wrong to me (for cue notes, that is!)

I can't see any way to select all and only either "Cue Size" or "Small notehead". So, unless there's a way that I've missed, that's not a reason to choose either one.

It's been a VERY long time since I've seen a formal conductor's score, but I would expect the cue notes to be not merely "acceptable" but "required". For example, knowing that the trombones have a measure (or half a measure, or two) of cue notes from the oboe part (rather than the trumpets) could be very important information for the conductor.

1 Toggle is a generic term -- I was using it to refer to turning all of the cues off and on. This is perfectly clear.
2 I am well aware of the ability to click buttons for cue, small notes, visibility, or anything else. This has nothing to do with my question.
3. No. Cue size is not the same as small note head (look further down in the properties panel)
4. That these is no way to select all "cue size" is the the problem. You can select all small size, but if you didn't create the piece with all small size, then it is impossible, and you have to go back to the beginning and make all cues small. This is what I am trying to avoid.
5. No. Generally, cue notes are not included in scores. They are for parts
