I'm trying to insert glissandi. I follow the instructions "Glissandi are set by dragging a glissando symbol from the Arpeggio & Glissando palette to the first of two consecutive notes on the same staff." But what happens is the first of the two notes turns red and the drag and attempted drop does not appear. I can get it to work if I first insert a breath pause. If I drag this pause out of the way the gliss will stay in place, but if I delete the pause the gliss disappears with it. I solve this by inserting a pause and then making it invisible. Seems a long way around. What's up?

Be sure you are using the glissando symbol and not the similar-looking arpeggio symbol. The latter won't work on single notes - it requires two or more notes in same chord (otherwise there is nothing to arpeggiate).

Many thanks Marc, this explains it. I was trying to use the jagged looking arpeggio symbol instead of the single line glissando symbol (both have the text gliss. ) Since I like the look of the arpeggio symbol for my purposes, I'll just use my work around. Thanks again!

I'm not sure what you are saying. You want a wavy-line gliss, why not just use the wavy-line gliss symbol instead of the wavy-line arpeggio symbol? If you don't want the text, you can remove it afterwards - just right click, glissando properties.

There seem to be two gliss. possibilities, the two items that are at the right side of the 6 items.
I prefer the last item, the wavy-line gliss. It seems that this gliss when inserted between two notes by itself is very small, but when I put a breath mark inbetween the two notes, it is elongated and becomes much easier to see. Marc, I thank you for wanting to clarify what I meant.

If the notes are close together, it will indeed be hard to see, although often by the time you finish enterng notes, things respace themselves and no adjustment is necessary.
In MuseScore 2.0 Beta 1, there is a style setting to enforce a minimum length for ties and glissandi, to avoid problems like this.
