Freeze when attempt to playback score
I am running Musescore 9.2.6 on a Mac running OSX 10.4.11. I am working on a symphonic band score with many parts. When I press the "play" button (it is not grayed out), the program freezes and I have to force quit. I had updated recently to musescore 9.2.6.2 and apparently had both ver, on my computer. I removed the newer program and it still freezes on playback. It used to work OK.

Does it work with another score? if yes can you attach your score?

The original demo (Mussorgsky/Pictures) will play. Mine will not. My file attached. Thanks!

I think I see the problem. I only have the default "piano" sound. Guess I'm SOL, as I can't seem to find a downloadable sound file that I can extract on my Mac.

The anchor (the dotted line) for your "D. S. al Coda" was a measure after the anchor for the Coda symbol.
I tidied up the repeat text and playback now works for your "Powerhouse" score (see attached).

#7232: D.S. after coda sign freezes playback
The latest version of MuseScore is currently version 0.9.6.2. Is this the version you are using? It comes with sounds for many instruments (not just piano).

I had it installed, but after I had used the older version and thought that that might have been my playback problem.

Do you still have it installed? //musescore.org/en/node/7226#comment-20812 plays back in version 0.9.6.2.
Editing scores creating in 0.9.6 or later should not be edited using older versions of MuseScore because it will corrupt the file. For more details see New features in MuseScore 0.9.6 , "Important information for people upgrading from older versions".

No, I uninstalled it and went back to the one I initially downloaded, which was ver. 0.9.6 /3145.
I took the DS al coda out of my original score (temporarily) and can see that it WILL play (cursor moves along but no sound), however now I have a new problem. Yesterday I tried once again to download a different SoundFont. It was compressed and I don't have (and can't get, apparently) the extraction program. However, now when I start MuseScore, I get a message:
"Loading SoundFont "/volumes/musescore-0.9.6/musescore.app/contents/resources/sound/TimGM6mb.sf2" failed. playback will be disabled. Go to Display/Synthesizer and check that the file location is correct."
Sorry to seem so incompetent, but I just can't figure out what is wrong here.
I am preparing to reload the newest version. Maybe this will help.

The best you can do it's stop reinstalling the software and Revert to factory settings

AHA! I have, after countless (well, actually, about 18) hours, I have got it together. My score will play and I'm figuring out all the shortcuts. I'm sure I'll have more questions. Can I make a donation?
In reply to yes, stop reloading... by Timothy Osburn
There is a "donate" button on the home page. http://musescore.org/en/donate
