Program hangs on startup on 0.9.6.3
I had installed MuseScore several weeks ago on my laptop (windows 7) and it worked fine briefly when tested. Then over the past few days I've been using it. Today, it refuses to open. I get the splash screen and it never gets any farther. I haven't installed any other software since yesterday when it worked and today when it doesn't. Uninstalling and reinstalling has not helped. The command line options -s or -F have identical behavior (splash screen and no further). Downgrading to 0.9.6.2 did nothing.
I've disabled my virus scan and killed all unnecessary processed but still nothing.
I can run the latest nightly build, although after a period of use it crashed. The debug version gives an error of "init midi driver failed" and then hangs at the splash screen.

Did you install any new hardware or software in between? See Known incompatibilities

No. As mentioned in my first post I didn't install any new software during this time. I also did not install any new hardware.

Sounds a bit like the problem I was having.
Does W7 have an equivalent of the Mac preference files? Often for trouble with Macs, deleting a program's preference file, then restarting the program will cause the program to create a new preference file. That is what I did a couple of weeks ago and I haven't had a problem since.
I hope this works for you.

Yes there is a preferences file on Windows as well. See Revert to factory settings
as mentioned in the original post, the -F option did not fix the problem. Also, I didn't mention it there but I also previously tried manually removing the config file as described in your link, and it still exhibits the same behavior of never getting past the splash screen. Currently, a recent nightly build is working, but i would really prefer to have the full, stable version running.
