Open Newer file in old MuseScore
Is there any way to convert a file saved with a new version of MuseScore (a nightly build) so that it can be opened in a previous version (0.9.6.3 stable)?

Maybe export it to MusicXML from the nightly, then open it in 0.9.6.3? I don't know if that will work or not, but maybe?

Yep, that worked. Looks like maybe it lost a few things in the conversion, but it was mostly intact (part names weren't present anymore under File->Parts). Thanks.

If you list some obvious elements, could you report this back in a comment? That way, we can improve export/import of MusicXML.

The only thing I've noticed so far is the Part names. By that I mean, in the original file, when I went to File->Parts, it was empty on the left because I hadn't created any, but on the right-hand window each checkbox was labeled with the name of that part, so when I created parts in the left window it was easy to tell what lines I needed to include. After export to xml and opening, the checkboxes were blank, so I just had to check back to the piece to get the order of the parts first.
If I notice anything else that was lost in the export, I'll post back.

Great idea, and apparently it worked. I didn't see how it could be done.
