Playback not working in Linux nightly build

• Jul 9, 2015 - 05:19

I just installed Linux nightly build and tried to playback a score my friend wrote. It didn't work. It didn't work either when I tried to playback the getting started score.

BTW I'm new to the forums so if there's any additional info I need to include, tell me.

Nightly builds for Linux, if I am not mistaken, do not contain a full installation and are thus missing the soundfont and other files that would be needed in order for MuseScore to run normally. Unless you have some special reason to want to be experimenting with nightly builds and don't mind doing a manul installation, you are better off just using the official version.

Which variant of Linux are you on? There are definitely official 2.0 pakcages for Ubuntu and I guess a couple of others. Have you added the necessary PPA (if appropriate)? I'm fuzzy on the specifics because there are so many variations, but do a search of this forum for your specific distribution to see if there is better information available. You definitely don't want the beta1 package; that isn't supported and would have far too many bugs anyhow.

Failing an official package for your particular distribution, next best bet would be to build from source I guess.
