new user needs help with concert pitch

• Mar 25, 2016 - 16:43

Hello
My son plays in school band. I have a piece Carmen Suite No. 1 in base clef and when I put it into Musescore as a tuba piece, 3/4 and no key and I click concert pitch, nothing happens.
We have had great success with another piece a few weeks ago so I must be doing something wrong.
It seems I am missing something. I have changed time signatures and key signatures and still nothing happens when I hit concert pitch.
Thanks for the help.

I do not quite understand what you mean: Do you want to change the piece from bass clef to treble clef? If that is the case then you can simply drag that treble clef to the first measure to which you wish to change the piece. Move the clef until in highlights in that measure and then release.
The pitch then changes automatically to concert pitch.

The original key is C major. When we do what you suggest it does change to treble clef but he then needs it to be in B flat. When we then go to transpose the option to change to B flat is there but it won't let us tick the box.

The last piece he input all bass clef and then hit the concert pitch button and got exactly what he needed. Not sure why not working now.

Orchestral pieces treat the tuba and euphonium as being in concert pitch already so no change would be expected. It sounds as though you are using the instruments as per British Brass Band tradition with them being pitched in Bb. If that is the case then go to Edit ->Instruments and select "All Instruments" from the drop-down box at the top, left. Now when you go to the Brass section you will see the option for Euphonium (Treble Clef) and Bb Tuba (Treble Clef).
