Midi Note Entry

• Mar 27, 2016 - 00:13

Hi,

New muse score user here. I'm working on my first lead sheet and am entering notes manually with no problem, but for some reason when I try to use my midi keyboard, even if select a rest point, the midi note entry does not work. Once a note is entered, then I can add other notes and make a chord, but even if the whole rest is selected in the blank measure, no note is added when I play the keyboard. I'm using the most recent version of muse score.

A couple of related issues:

1. There is definitely a good amount of latency when I play the keyboard and hear the piano, when I'm not in note entry mode.

2. I'm not hearing the piano sound in note entry mode when I play the keyboard.

My setup is Macbook Pro running Yosemite, most recent version and an acorn masterkey49 USB midi controller.

**And yes I do want to use the midi controller over the keyboard shortcuts as I play piano**

I've attached some screenshots below...

Ok,

I restarted Musescore and made sure the inspector and palette windows were open and this seems to have solved the problem ....

Well no actually, this wasn't due to the keyboard not being recognized by Musescore. If you look at the screenshots and read my post, you can see that the keyboard shows up in the midi in and out menu, and it was also working partially, just not when trying to notate from a rest. This is definitely some sort of issue related to either the inspector being closed or musescore having some sort of issue that required a restart.

Anyway, it's probably helpful to have this up in case someone else runs into the same issue.

Thanks,
Ben

Hmm, sorry I missed that in the third screenshot. Any chance you could take a few minutes to experiment and figure out exactly under what circumstances it doesn't work? If you can provide instructions to reproduce the issue, the developers can look into tracking down the source of the problem.
