How do I delete a note?
This might sound stupid, but how do I delete a note? I try to press backspace when I selecte a note, but sometimes it just jumps to another. And one more: How do I delete pauses?

Use "delete" to delete a selected note. From your image I don't understand what a big "pause" is. Do you mean many rests. You can press and hold SHIFT and then left-click mouse drag any area you want to work on or delete.

click on first, shift-click on last

I would also suggest reading the Handbook (shipped with the proram and viewable from the Help menu), and checking out the tutorial videos (see the MuseScore Connect window that displays when you open the program), which answer all these questions and many more.
