midi keyboard note input
I cannot input notes with my midi keyboard (yamaha with e mu 1x1 interface) I follwed the video tutorial and midi input is enabled. In preferences under I/O "choose port midi input interface" There are no choices listed. I notice the keyboard works fine with my cakewalk software and other software so it is not the key board. Is there a way to choose midi devices?
. What am I missing? Any ideas?

Before updating to 1.2 rev 5470, I used MIDI input successfully with MuseScore, though you have to watch the order of operations carefully (what you turn on first and when you have to restart MuseScore). But yesterday I returned to editing scores and cannot make it work again, although I'm using exactly the same hardwarre. PMDefaults recognizes the keyboard (the black dot lights up), and I have either stopped PMdefaults or used close/release ports.
One major symptom is that the Enable MIDI and Enable Sound While Editing buttons cannot be activated. Edit/Preferences/Note Input is set to enable MIDI input. I unchecked it, restarted MS, checked it, restarted MS, many times, and still the buttons will not press. Previously the buttons were always on when MS was started. Now they are off and cannot be turned on. I have rebooted the Windows 7 computer too.
This reminds me of the frustration we used to encounter when trying to make RS-232 serial ports work. But there are not as many handles available to the user in MIDI as there were in RS-232, so it seems like it should be easier. What am I missing?

Can you play the score? Can you share a screenshot of Edit -> Preferences -> I/O ?

Yes, I was able to play the score. However I got a big surprise which makes it impossible to diagnose the problem any further:
After I posted the issue, the very next time I started MuseScore it appeared with the new "Reunion" example score, and with all the buttons working again AND it now works with my MIDI interface! In other words the problem disappeared on its own.
I updated MuseScore to version 1.2 several weeks ago, shortly after it first came out, but it never had presented the Reunion score. I began to think you guys were "reaching out" and fixing the program for me! Is there any way that implementation of the update could have been delayed? (This is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1.)
Anyway, MuseScore is a great program, and we all owe you folks a huge debt for developing and maintaining it!
