MIDI Input Issue

• Feb 23, 2017 - 15:57

Hello,

My issue is that I cannot input from my MIDI keyboard. I have managed to select it as an input device, and when I press a key, I can hear the input. However, I can only use the keys to input notation once I have already used the keyboard-and-mouse method to enter a note in that location in the stave.

For example, I press N, choose 4 for duration, play middle C on my MIDI instrument, nothing happens. If I then click any note in that location, playing middle C afterwards will result in notation (for both middle C and whatever note I clicked), but not otherwise.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the exact same problem. I looked at the other conversation. When not in note entry mode, notes on my keyboard play on my computer. When I go to note entry mode notes do not play or enter. If I enter a single note from my PC keyboard, then MIDI notes enter all in the same position and the note entry position doesn't move forward. If I move it forward manually with the arrow keys I'm back in the same state again.

I'm running Windows 10 and have a Yamaha YPG-625. I/O settings look fine - they keyboard shows up and clearly notes are getting through in some instances. Is this a bug or other setting problem? From the docs it seems like this should just work...
