Repeats Not Working Properly
Would someone look at the attached score and tell me what I'm doing wrong. The repeats don't work right.

you have an end repeat in bar 14 and another in bar 24, but no start repeat in between

I redid the score to make it easier to follow. See attached.
The song goes to the first repeat at measure 14, to the repeat sign at measure 6. Then should go to the second ending. That's the way I see it anyway. The midi doesn't follow that at all.

What if I remove the #2 Volta. Then, wouldn't the repeat at measure 25 send you to the repeat at measure 6?
In reply to OK by rwmol
no. You need a start repeat to match that 2nd end repeat

Ancient Egyptian method (ideograms / pictograms) ;-)

yep I meant something along this line ;-) but didn't feel like guessing where to place that start repeat. But your guess looks like a pretty good one...

Got it to work right with the attached score. Thanks for the help.

I don't see that, there's still a start repeat missing to match the 2nd end repeat. But the attachment being a pdf I can't test playback...

Sorry, I posted the wrong file.

Hmm, well... it doesn't play the B part twice but skips to the 2nd Coda (why two? Why the hidden 'to Coda'), intentional?
You want "Intro - A - A - B - A - B - C", don't you?
In reply to Hmm, well... it doesn't play by Jojo-Schmitz
The "To Coda" is the "instruction" built into the software to go to the second "Coda". If you don't insert "To Coda" and just put a "Coda" symbol at that measure it won't go to the second "Coda". That's why it's invisible.
I can't find any way to repeat the chorus. That's why the instruction at the end of the chorus.
What I really wanted was: Intro - A - A - B - A - A - B - A - C

The "coda" symbol is for marking the destination of the jump, not the point from which you jump. Use "To Coda" to mark where you want the jump to occur. Then, if you'd rather it not read "To Coda" but instead simply use the coda sign, just edit the text of the "To Coda", and use the text symbols palette to add the coda sign (then change the font). Much better than using two symbols, one hidden and the other a lie and needing manual positioning (which will not work well if the score if reformatted, and won't export as expected to MusicXML should the occasion arise.
Easiest way to get AABAABAC would be to simply write out the A section twice rather than use repeats. This goes for human beings trying to decipher the chart as well as MuseScore. Complex road maps are a recipe for train wrecks, I find. Then you simply could have
||: (Segno) A (To Coda) AB :|| (Coda) C
This will take up two pages, though. That's the tradeoff.

That worked great. Can't use the text symbols palette. It's grayed out. Had to use the Keyboard. Worked though.
I considered two pages. Really don't want two pages. The instructions work for me.
The help I get on this forum is outstanding. Folks here don't treat beginners as stupid as on most forums.
Thanks
