Editing Brackets:
Hi,
I need to use and edit Brackets but I am having a difficulty! To explain: I can find Brackets in the Master palette and can place them in my score and drag them into position no problem; but I can't edit them if I right click and and click on "edit element" nothing happens? Handles do not appear! I have tried everything I can think of: restarting the computer and MuseScore etc! I know it can be done as I used them successfully in a previous score! I can copy and paste a bracket from the older score and and edit it successfully without issue? Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug of some sort?
Many thanks.
Bill

Try double click. See also

Why master palette rather than the brackets palette in the advanced workspace?
Are you using the master palette's symbols palette? If so: don't!

Thanks Jojo,
I am double clicking. I need/want to use the bracket to embrace multiple notes - any number from 2 - 6 - as an indicator of a Barre (guitar music). The brackets in the brackets palette seem to be for staff/stave use only; the 3rd bracket in this palette - square - which would probably do the job is dimmed and unavailable? I am attaching a small screen shots which shows what I am trying to do - hope it opens! The brackets in this sample were copied and edited from an older score and works fine! Hope this clarifies the problem which is: why can't I edit a bracket from the master palette once it is in the score??

Ah, maybe (miss-)use the arpeggio brackets then. (your images doesn't work)
You can edit a bracke from the master paletes bracket palette the same, but the one from the symbols palette are just glyphs of the musical font, you could only change font size

Thanks again,
Just tried the bracket from the Arpeggio palette - worked perfectly and instantly!
I wonder if that is the bracket I used in the past and didn't remember it... Maybe so!
Anyway problem solved. Many many thanks for your help and advice.
"your images doesn't work" Do you mean my attachment didn't open?

yes, I can't see that image.
You should disable playback of that arpeggio bracket, via inspector

The picture you uploaded shows nothing on my computer. However, you can use staff text to add the brackets you want. You can use the ones from the keyboard { [ ( ) ] } etc. or press F2 to bring up special characters and scroll through until you find one you like. Resize these brackets by selecting one and using font size to change its size. To select a bracket, put the text in edit mode, move the cursor to the left of the bracket and press shift right arrow to select it. You must have text selected to use the font size. I would recommend a text item on each side of the note rather that a bracket a bunch of spaces and another bracket in a single staff text item.
Attached is an example.

Thanks again,
As I use a Mac F2 increases screen brightness - no special characters!
Using [ { etc is unusable when enlarged by editing!
The brackets I need to use are in the vertical rather than horizontal plain; used with chords not melodic lines!
I think the bracket in the Arpeggio palette is my best option - I have switched off "play" with inspector.

Try clicking the "Brackets jpg" below should open!

I'm glad you have a solution. Most Mac users know that inside of a program you always press cmd+function key to get a program specific function rather than the global function you get from not using the cmd key. I don't normally specify the difference for Mac users, mostly because I don't use a Mac.
