Drums are playing as Piano

All my instruments seems to work fine except drums which are playing as piano notes. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Even the default Fluid SoundFont is doing the same for me. So if I open a midi file all instruments work correctly except drums. An internet search seems to point to a problem with early midi GM standards vs XG (extended midi) but havn’t been able to find a fix as yet. The search mentioned something about XG drums being in Bank 128 and other midi standards having the drums in Bank 0:0 (but tied to track 10). My drums are definitely in Track 10 in my midi files and work fine on other midi players.

There are two ways to fix this problem:

First way: In the Midi import panel, click on the "percussion synthesizer" and select the "-" sign at the bottom. Then go to the mixer and remove the "drumset" tick and mark it again. drm00.png

Second way: Open the midi file and delete the extra "control change" and "Program change" messages in the drum channel. Save it. Then Import in Musescore.

Thank you very much for this detailed explanation. Spot on advice and the problem now fixed!
I'm guessing the problem arose because I have re-mixed most of my midis on my Korg keyboard and in most cases I'm not using the default drums but another set. Korg seems to assign most drums to 120 rather than 127 or 128. Thanks again.
