triplets in 12/8 time
I am writing a composition in 12/8 time. Several measures consist of four triplets . Each note in these triplets represents an eighth note. I want the first note in each of the four triplets to last for the length of its triplet while the other two notes last for only their duration. I have attached a file (triplets.png) showing the fifth measure of the composition.

Sounds like what you want are three quintuplets (i.e. 5 notes in the same time as 3 notes).
If you want that , use VOICES

Raymond has shown you correctly. He deleted the optional first 1/8th rest.

If this is indeed the rhythm OP wants and this is guitar music (looks like it) then OP might be looking for this kind of notation.

Thanks for the fast response. Voices did the trick. Sounds just like I would play it holding down the C while playing E and G.
