Length of sound from notes
Greetings,
My question is. How or what can I do to let a note play full out until it automatically fades away or is played to the same note during Playback mode, for a classical guitar piece. For example: For the piece Romanza, whitch is written in triplets, I'd like to keep hearing the notes during Playback mode until they fade away or played again, or a note on the string is released with the finger.
I don't find this option to set. It may be that I look over it, but so far I have not found it anywhere. Was this option not easy to find in the previous versions of MuseScore in the menu?
I also have the book Mastering MuseScore, but I'm not that far in the book, because I'm trying to read and try everything from start to finish. So it may be that this issue is also written in the book, but it is not in the contents / index as title to find.
Thanks in advance,
Stoneface

Yes, i'm not sure but it seems approximately the same thing. (english not my main language).
Of course they seem to answer to make other or different notes for it, which i can't do, because "Romanza" is only written in triplets and love to hear them completely ring out after a note is played. Also that they ring out during Playback Mode. I've seen this option somewhere in a menu, but not sure if it's in MuseScore.
Can maybe be an option in the GuitarPro software (which i had long time ago, now not anymore).
I've add a part of the Romanza file, i'm sure it'll be more easy what i mean or try to say. Because the notes not keep ringing after the "written note length" is done in Playback mode.

With two voices, as you did, and adding pedal markings (I put them invisible, to see them again, go to View / Untick "Invisible Show"), it works well: 1 Romanza.mscz
Normally, this piece is written in three voices, with shared noteheads, like this: 2 Romanza.mscz
But this poses some difficulties with playback. It maybe avoided (as I did in the second attachment), but what works best is with two voices and the pedal markings.
Fortunately, it will work smoothly and more easly, and three voices, with the new line "Let ring" which is implemented for the next version 3.0. Be patient!
NB: in Guitar Pro, there is no option particular for this, but a "Let ring" line too.

We are definitely talking about the same issue and the Romanza that you refer to shows the issue very clearly. I have started to use the pedal solution as it works well and I'm looking forward to "let ring" for guitarists in version 3 of Musescore. It will be interesting to see if the implementation allows the ringing notes to slowly decrease in volume or whether they will simply be sustained at the plucked volume.
You probably did see this option in Guitar Pro. I have version 6 for PC and individual notes can have "let ring" applied to them, or the whole score can be set to "auto let ring".

Yes, i think it was at GP6. It's a interesting option for sure. Version 7 is also great.
Thx everyone for the reply.
I'll try some things out..
