How do I do the stacking to break barlines when I cross them?

There was a pic in the MS3 beta thread of ties crossing a time sig, and part of the time sig was whited out so you could clearly see the ties. I need to do this with expression and bar text, but I can't figure out how. The expression text's stacking number is higher than the barline's, at least.

You can do the following in the text crossing barlines using the inspector:

Change frame to square
Click the background box and change the Alpha channel to 250
Change the border to 0sp.

This will white out the bar line passing through the text and remove the border from the frame. You can of course do this on multiple dynamics or same types of text at a time.

I haven't tested this, but I don't see any harm in placing this in the style settings.

The frame and background method I explained only works on items with text style. Lines and hairpins never had this option.

Put it into the style settings and see how it works. You can always revert the changes if it's causing other problems. If you like it, you can always save and load style settings into other score and style settings are also saved to templates. There are many ways to make this your personal default.
