read206.cpp read114.cpp and read301.cpp
Are these modules actively used in 3.0 at runtime, or are they legacy, semi-obsolete?
Why is there a read301.cpp? What is version 301 when the 300 beta was just released?

These are used to import 1.x and 2.x files and to read 3.x files, 301 is the current fileformat for MuseScore 3 (it was 300 before the score diff stuff got merged, pre Alpha 1)

So there is user functionality in 3.0 to import older scores? I don't remember that being available in previous versions.
I could be confusing backwards with forwards compatibility in my memory too. I have many memories of dialog boxes telling me scores were incompatible across versions, but my memory of the context is foggy.

2,x imported 1.x scores, so yes, 3.0 imports 1.x and 2.x scores (1.x scores maybe not as good as 2.x imported them)
