Staff layout
I'm putting multiple individual songs on a single page. Is there a way to add additional space between the staves ONLY between the songs, so that song #1 is spaced evenly, I put a little extra space between the lines at the end of that song, then arrange the next song evenly, etc . . in other words, I'd like to do a custom stave layout, not having the same amount of space between every line. Hope that makes sense... ????

Yes, you can either add a staff spacer from the Breaks & Spacers palette, or perhaps more appropriate here, a frame from the Frames & Measures palette so you can also add a title etc.

Thanks, I had never used those before - Seems that will increase the space a bit, . . .but I need to bring the other staffs closer together without reducing the size of the staff itself. Lowering the scaling makes everything smaller... ??? I want bigger staffs but closer together . . . . . ?

You can use the spacer that fixes the distance between staves. It looks like a capital i (with lines on top and bottom). You can then disable auto placement on items that don't want to cooperate with this, mostly text items.

Thanks Mike, but I see no such spacer in the pallet. there are staff spacer up, staff spacer down, plus system, section, and page breaks. Both of the arrows will only increase the space between staves. I need to not only increase some spaces, but also decrease others . . ?? Thanks for the help, this is actually something I've wanted to figure out previously but I just worked around it.

The item is in all of the built in workspaces. It is the last icon and says "Staff spacer fixed down" when you hover the pointer above it. Like all spacers, its size can be edited in the inspector.

Fixed staff spacer is new for.3.0 - update!
But actuay that not what you want. Reduce system distance globally in Style / Page, but then use the spacers to add the extra space where needed.

If reducing the space is needed in fewer places, this is the tool to use. If spacing is too wide in most of the score, then reducing the global spacing is the best route and auto spacing should fix the rest of the score.
